Welcome to the Dark Island Hotel, Liniclate. This is a popular hotel for events, conferences, business trips, short breaks and holidays. On a summer evening, as you stroll along the machair tracks close to the hotel, you will hear corncrakes, oystercatchers and lapwings calling from the vibrant patchwork of machair cornfields. On closer inspection you will see that the cornfields are embroidered with a profusion of wildflowers. Next to the track, orchids bloom in a variety of competing purples - bright colourful stitches in one of nature’s finest tapestries.

Centrally located in the island chain, we are by car just 10 minutes away from the airport and 30 minutes from the ferry terminals at Lochboisdale in South Uist or Lochmaddy in North Uist. The fresh sea air will inspire you as you stroll along the spectacular ‘private’ beaches, or hike in the nearby hills.
